Episode 15: You Say He’s Just A Friend…

Today we are talking in-depth about being a female in a male domineered friend group. Mel, Danielle, and our AC family friend Melissa (also, Mel) grew up as tomboys and found it easier to relate with guys. Yes, we have female friends, but hanging out with the boys always felt natural to us.

Danielle grew up with two older brothers. Mel grew up with two very close male cousins. Melissa grew up liking to fight, so it was easy to fit right in with the guys. To this day, all of us have male friends that we look at like brothers and that’s it. Though we know there is no romantic involvement, does this look that way on the outside looking in?

Recently, it was brought to Danielle’s attention that for some guys, a female having too many male friends is considered a red flag. This has become a topic of debate while trying to date. The idea of her having a male roommate has caused issues for her, even though they have separate rooms and are on two different work schedules. She barely sees him.

Melissia straight up had a guy stop talking to her and tell her she was ho because she was going to hang out with one of her best male friends. Was this statement called for?

Is it impossible for a woman to have male friends without any type of romantic involvement? Is it fair to assume that a female sleeps around just because she has close friends of the opposite sex? Would we be willing to drop our male friends if someone we were dating asked us to?

Well, we have a lot to say about this topic and we are very opinionated.
